This week gave me a lot of hope for the weeks to come. I met a girl with Elder Olsen a long time ago but she didn't want to talk plenty so we asked if she knew any Christians and she told us somewhere to go. Elder Pulupaki and I went back to her place on exchange to visit her and she was very welcoming to us. We didn't share a message with her that day but we set the foundation to come back. I went back with Elder Kokiantali and we invited her to church. We offered to help with anything and I feel like she was more welcoming after we asked if we could help. When we were there, she told us she would come but we needed to make her food for after so I made groundnut soup and rice and told her she needed to make us food. Sunday came and she showed up with her two kids and said she will bring one more girl this next week. We were able to have a powerful lesson with her about the restoration because she was asking questions about one of the talks in church about baptism. The sp...

Tamale Tamale

This week was hot. Last week we went to a members house to help her fetch water. We had to carry buckets to a pipe not super far away but a nice walk then carry them back full of water. The natives here just carry it on their head but I dont like that too much so I put it on my shoulder. After we fetched 5 buckets I felt like I was going to pass out but I couldnt let the member see that so I continued until we carried a total of 7. My held a lot of dirt toward the end. We started the week with a wonderful lesson with sister Lydia who was taught by missionaries before but she didn't care so she didn't remember anything. She met someone who changed her view on the book or mormon so she decided to read it and came to church. When we went there so was so receptive to everything we taught and was so excited to learn.  We then had to prepare the apartment to receive two new missionaries. They split our area so we now have 4 in the apartment and 4 at church each su...

Its a Boy

Last week monday after we had returned to the apartment we were cleaning some small things when we got a call from our mission president. It threw me off and I was not prepared for it at all. I answered and he wanted to speak with me and my companion on speaker. He told us that because of the situation in Liberia we need to make room in the mission for 7 missionaries coming from the MTC so my companion went on emergency transfer and I was called to train. He told us we would be leaving on Wednesday to travel to Kumasi.  Tuesday we prepared to leave by saying goodbye to some members and my companion packed. We stayed the night at the Zone Leaders to get up at 4 the next day to get on a bus to Kumasi.  We arrived in Kumasi and went to the stake center of my last area so it was nice seeing it again. I met my son there and we arranged for everyone to travel to their areas. With my area being 7 hours away we stayed at the mission home for the night. MLC ...

Interesting tastes

This week was very interesting. We were able to meet with the members a lot this week. It was a lot of fun being with them. Every night when we went to a members house they wanted to feed us. On Thursday we went to one of the members and she took us to a chop bar and bought us dog to eat. It was pretty good but every few bites it just felt strange. On Friday we went to a member and as soon as we were about to leave one of the ladies there stopped us and asked us why we were leaving so early the food isn't finished. It was getting late so we asked if we could get it in a bag to go home. We went back the next day and one of the kids asked for our help so I helped him take the feathers off a duck and they told us to stay and eat again so we told them it was getting late again so they put it in a bag again for us. We got to the apartment and my bag had a piece of duck as well as the heart and my companions had something weird too. I decided to try it because why not and it wa...

6 Months

Image
Well it feels somehow strange that I'm at 6 months now. I guess I can be considered an "old" missionary but it doesn't feel like it at all. I'm excited for the next 18 months. It was another transfer and I'm excited to start transfer 5. Elder Olsen and I were pretty sure we would both stay so we've been looking forward to another transfer. I feel like this one is going to be a lot better than the last. We have started some better planning and we have things we want to do written on our board. We have one woman we are teaching who was super serious before I came then when I got here her husband heard some bad things about the church so he wont let her come anymore. As I was doing a fast Sunday I really felt that we needed to go to her house and sit down with her husband and try to solve the problems that he has. I'm excited to really get down to the bottom of his problems and hopefully see them at church. We've gotten a lot of good suggestions...
